Metallics: The Ultimate Addition to Your Wedding Color Palette

Shimmer is glitter’s classier cousin. And there’s nothing more shimmery than metallic shades.

Over the last year more and more couples have added metallic hues to their wedding color scheme. It instantly creates a luxurious feel to your invitations and a refined edge to your big day.

Warm tone metallics–like gold, copper, and bronze–add a timeless elegance and look fantastic against dark colors and jewel tones. Cool tone metallics–like silver–add a sense of calm. While it looks chic next to darker colors, silver also pairs well with light colors colors and pastels. The ultimate chameleon color, Rose gold can be both warm or cool toned depending on the particular shade.

Gold

Will & Meredith chose to mix metallics with a color scheme of Gold, Silver, and Black. Their invitations were letterpressed with gold and silver inks (low shine!) on black linen cardstock that complemented their custom lasercut backing in an antique gold shimmer paper. We even incorporated metallic foil printing and stamping in their day-of stationery, on their welcome notes and table numbers.

Silver

Laura & William kept it simple and elegant with a color palette of Silver, White, & Soft Blue. Their invites were wrapped in handmade silver paper and sealed with a silver wax seal. The main invitation was foil stamped with silver foil (high shine!) and complimented with a beautiful dusty blue letterpress ink.

Copper

Robb & Matt made everything shimmer with their Navy & Copper color palette. Their pocket backing was cut from sapphire cardstock, envelopes were a shimmer copper, and each card had raised, thermography printed accents in copper (medium shine!). Even their cake shimmered in the light!

Rose Gold

Belén & Laith chose a warm toned rose gold custom pocket backing to accompany their dark grey envelopes and cream colored cards. Their names and monogram were printed via thermography in a slightly darker rose gold color adding dimension and texture (low shine!).
