How Many Invitations Do We Actually Need?

One of the most common questions we receive: How many invitations do we need? Read on to learn how to get your invitation quantity perfect from the start.

NUMBER OF HOUSEHOLDS

The most common misconception is that every guest counts toward your invitation quantity. The good news is that you don't need that many! You actually only need one invitation per household. Any guests 18 years of age or older that reside in the same household should receive their own invitation.

A COUPLE EXTRA INVITES FOR THE “B LIST”

Have a “B list”? When you place your initial invitation order, make sure to order enough to cover your “B list” households. Why? Ordering a small run of invitations down the road is actually more expensive than ordering them all upfront. This is because of all the backend setup, prep, and material cost involved. Save yourself the trouble and order it all at once.

ONE OR TWO FOR PHOTOS AND KEEPSAKES

Another common oversight - forgetting to get one or two for yourself! You’ll want a keepsake set or two to be professionally photographed by your photographer the day of your wedding.

TWO TO THREE FOR FRAMING!

Instead of putting your invitations in a keepsake box with other wedding day things, and only looking at them once a year (or never!), you can frame them and have them on display all year round! We work directly with professional framers to get your invitation beautifully custom framed. You’ll need at least two to three sets in order to show all the sides and pieces.
