Meredith & Will's Modern Gatsby Wedding
Meredith & Will tied the knot last November in DC at the Hay Adams hotel. We can't wait to show you how amazing their wedding was!
For their overall design, they both loved the geometric shapes of art deco design, so we created a modern take on the “Gatsby” aesthetic for their custom wedding invitations.
We started with their monogram and it influenced everything else! Using their monogram as the starting, focal point, we created their custom laser cut backing influenced by geometric lines and art deco vibes. Then created the patterned envelope liner, accent lines on the details and rsvp cards, and return address embossing.

The main invitation and details cards were letterpressed with gold and silver ink onto black, laid cotton paper for the ultimate lux touch.
The first thing their guests saw when entering their wedding was a custom welcome poster we designed. It was one of their favorite pieces we created for their big day and doubled as an art print they now have on display in their home!
“We love the full set of day-of stationery designs!!! Full disclosure — the poster made me cry, and we were both blown away with you way you incorporated the two different (and we assumed disconnected) themes we love —the speakeasy cartoon art of Tom Tomkinson/Death & Co AND the art deco!! The geometric patterns, the gradation of the night sky, and the incorporation of ourselves into it are all aspects of it we immediately fell in love with!! (Also had to immediately shake up a cocktail to go with it...)”

We handmade their guest book made with fine Italian leather for the covers, a piano hinge binding with brass rods and an embossed monogram.
Their chuppah was so elegant with subtle lights and golden origami cranes
For their day-of stationery, we designed matching escort cards and table numbers! Each table number was printed with metallic foil. The odd tables were silver and the even were gold.
We love that their table decor was entirely made up of candles! #floweralternative
Meredith & Will had their monogram embossed on their black marble place cards and even placed it on champagne flutes!
We created custom illustrations for their awesome welcome card! The illustrations were the same style as their cocktail menu; adding an all american burger, an ornate gallery frame, and a cocktail to represent all of Meredith & Will's favorite local DC haunts. Their monogram was foil stamped in silver at the top of the card in silver.

Meredith & Will are true cocktail connoisseurs. They wanted custom cocktail menus for their wedding and were inspired by Tim Tomkinson's illustrations in "Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails" by the famous NYC bar Death & Company. Emma (our junior designer) loved the book so much, she bought a copy! 😆
We incorporated hand drawn illustrations our team created along with similar geometric lines that were used in their invitations.
